Our reputation is built on precision, in-depth knowledge, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Here’s an overview of our recent investigation, showcasing the meticulous nature of our work:

Briefing:

In response to a request, we were entrusted with a comprehensive investigation into a fire incident that transpired on 09.05.2023, causing significant damage to a slanted roof structure.

The Process:

1.Assignment:

We were commissioned to decipher the cause of the reported damage. This entailed a detailed examination of the damaged items, supplemented by a thorough review of the relevant insurance documentation. Where necessary, clarifications were sought through phone consultations.

2.Described Damage Event:

From the documents, it became evident that a fire had compromised the integrity of the slanted roof. Early indications suggested the potential involvement of an external company, from which we acquired pertinent information about the incident.

3.Presented Evidence and System Data:

Our investigation highlighted the presence of electrical devices from a photovoltaic system installed in January 2021. We were handed evidence - remnants of solar cables and solar connectors from the area of origin for our assessment.

4.General Instructions/Testing Methods:

Our methodology was comprehensive. We assessed only the damaged items documented in the report. This included inspections, measurements, and a final X-ray analysis. Post-evaluation, the items were securely stored externally.

5.Findings:

The evidence clearly demarcated the fire's point of origin. Central to our findings was an MC4 solar connector that exhibited significant damage, indicative of an electrical arc's effect. Our deep dive revealed that the connector was poorly manufactured during its installation. This deviation from DIN VDE 0100-520 standards was identified as the primary cause of the incident.

6.Summary:

Our expert analysis concluded that the fire's origin was directly linked to solar cables with MC4 solar connectors from a photovoltaic system installed in 2021. A manufacturing error in the MC4 solar connector was the root cause of the reported damage. The responsibility for this oversight and its resultant damage was ascertained to lie with the installing entity.

Through such investigations, we reiterate our commitment to offering the highest quality of work, ensuring that all stakeholders receive clarity and closure. Join us on this journey of technical expertise and transparent communication, and experience the difference of partnering with IGO Ingenieurgesellschaft Opp mbH.
